On our second to last day, we decided to ditch the museums and head for more of the outdoors. We headed north of Auckland into the aptly named “Northland”, full of bays and beaches, where we rented a couple of sea kayaks. Paddling up the Bay of Islands, up the river, we ended up at the beautiful Haruru Falls where we ate a variety of local cheeses for lunch.
After returning the kayaks, we went to a local hot springs to relax our muscles, then went out for some delicious Thai food to end the lovely day.
